Steve's right here. I had a similar intake set up a Steve on the same
engine. I recently changed the stock exhaust to a flowmaster 70 series and
notice little change in sound. Sounds mean at start up, stock at idle, and
stock at most RPM's. It only gets loud/different around 2000RPMs under
acceleration.

I have the Dodge 4.7 engine. The stock 4.7 air intake hat, seemed to be
some type of detune for sound problems. Upon removal of the stock air hat,
I change to the AirRaid open cone filter setup. The sound change
dramatically. It reminded me of the old hemi sounds (deep growling or
howling noise). Now with the Z-Tube, it has a added whistle at 2700-3300RPM
band, same as the old V-1 version of the Vortech Supercharger.

If you ask anyone with a changed 4.7 cold air intake, they will reply the
same on sound changes. This is why I was looking for a quiet muffler. The
40 series according to Chris was setting off people car alarms.
