I think your looking for QC but I'll give you my CC stats

4.7L CC Auto 2wd, 3.55 gear 255/55 17" tires. Weight 4000lbs +/-100

50/50 city highway from 17 to 19mpg, depending on the weight of my foot.
100% highway on my road trip avg 20 mpg over 2500miles and a one tank best
of 22.5mpg.
The worst I ever had was 16.3mpg, I was laying rubber all over town.

I guess my mods (intake and exhaust) to have added .5mpg to the above stats.

Will on this list gets 26mpg consistently, but he's a freak.

What I've heard on the list
Some of the manual 4.7L have been known to stall from Idle
The 4.7L auto is so far a good tranny, but not a performance tranny. Ask
Steve STL about that.

I haven't seen anyone mention this and I'm sure it get back to me but check
the archives, there are two types of 5.9's. Those that ping and those that
will ping. Matt is running a 4.7L with a PCM flash for advance timing AND a
Jet chip for advance timing and his is yet to ping.

The 4.7L engine is too new to quote longevity stats, but talk to the Jeep
Grand Cherokee guys, the 4.7L started there in '99.

Subject: DML: 5.9 MPG? 4.7 MPG?

Ok, here are a few more questions.

Gas Mileage:
5.9 w/ 3.92 =
5.9 w/ 3.55 =
4.7 w/ 3.92 =
4.7 w/ 3.55 =
Please specify automatic or manual on 4.7

Also, do you know of any specific problems from the
4.7 or 5.9 engines and transmissions that I would be
likely to encounter--cracked heads from 5.9 or is that
only the 5.2?

Thanks-this list is awesome as far as good quality
replies. I really appreciate all the quick answers.
Bob H.
