AWD turns all 4 wheels at the same time, but not with the same amount of
power to them all (center clutch/differential/viscous coupling,
depending on implementation & choice of terminology). 4WD puts equal
power to all wheels; nothing but driveshaft and gears between the fronts
and rears.
