"r" word, now you are sounding like Bush (good or bad thing depending on
what side of the fence you are on).
>From my limited and simplistic understanding of the economy, we are do for
a slowdown. How deep the recession is depends on the reaction of the
government, business and we consumers. All variables, all unknown (thought
somewhat predictable), all interconnected. Companies cut back workforce due
to lack of sales. People who are out of work cut down their spending. Less
spending, less sales and the spiral continues. In steps the government to
try to stimulate the economy via either tax cuts or increase spending (or
both) which, depending on how drastic their reaction, can turn us around,
and or send us into a inflationary cycle. Add to this mix Greenspan trying
keep the cycles under control via interest rates and all I can say is we
are in for an interesting ride. Hopefully we will all survive.
