I checked my truck's battery last night, both when it is off and when it is
running, and it will be time to replace it shortly. I just dont want it to
die out somewhere on me, so I am going to replace it. I need a battery which
has 4 posts, or the possibility to have 4. My current battery is a Champion
4x4 1050CA/900CCA, a true beast. It has the top post terminals and
'optional' side posts, which I use for all my accessories with screw in
solid brass terminals.
Every place I look, I find out different CCA/CA specs for Optima batteries.
Can someone please provide me with the correct specs for the 'red top'
Optima line of batteries. Thanks.
Next off, I called Wards and they carry the Champion Vortex(with Spiralcell
Technology, same as the Optima). This battery has 900CA and 700CCA;
'liquidation' price is $98.
Napa has their new Orbital battery(sealed gel battery once again), which has
890CA and 700CCA for $125. The guy on the phone told me this battery only
has 2 terminals. I need 4 so this one is out.
Exide also has thier battery, also called Orbital for $129. At Carparts.com
I have a $30 off first time buyer coupon. But the specs are 890CA and
700CCA.
I just want some higher numbers here, what is so hard about that! My Sam's
Club Champion ran me $40 when I bought it 3 years ago, and even now it is
only $45, with better specs than any of the above batteries. From what I
have read though, a sealed gel Spirallcell battery produces about 1000CA at
startup and well over 900CCA at startup, but for some odd reason they are
rated less? I dont get it. Thanks for any and all info.
