Torque and Horsepower are just a function of each other using RPM. Torque is what gets you going but Horsepower dictates how fast you get there. So That is why My 98 with a 5.2 is slower than a 4.7 with less torque. The 4.7 can also rev higher, allowing for a regear to have the same top end as the 5,2, so with an adjustment to the driveline a lower torque engine will be able to pull more than a higher torque engine through
mechanical advantage.
