I was doing some routine maintenance (oil/filter, chasis lube, etc) on my '98
318 and got around to cleaning the TB bores. I removed the air hat, cleaned up
the bores/IAC, replaced the air hat, started the engine and tweaked the throttle
from under the hood... The throttle stuck open and wouldn't return without
forcing it back!
I removed the air hat again to check the spring and cables and they all looked
fine (clean, not kinked, etc.)... So I put the air hat back on and everything
was normal again, I.E. it didn't stick. So what gives? Anybody have a sticky
throttle and have any idea what the cause was?
Is it possible to tighten down the air hat too much such that it binds the
throttle linkage? --I'm just grasping at straws here so please forward
opinions...
