Note on NOS safety!!!..... (long)

I know that most dml'ers and dak owners in general are pretty smart...(they
own daks don't they :) )
I saw something that bothered me this weekend. I went to a local track
for a standard day of racing. The track was reserved for an all pontiac day,
but had been opened to general racing, and I didnt know before leaving the
house. (or I would have been prepared to race)
I went equiped with my digital camera, and ran into an old friend who was
sitting in the tech line waiting to have his super gass 55 chevy tehced.
In front of him were three RT's ( I know about all the bad things said
about rt owners, and I dont agree... these three seemed to be an exception)
one had a brand new silver rt with the only mod being one of the edlebrock
triangular air filters with the mesh screne and a foam filter.
annother had a yellow rt with a gen II K&N, and the third was a blue truck
running nos.
I didnt get to see these trucks run, but what I saw in the tech line
disturbed me...

The blue rt was running nos, but the owner apperently didnt want to drill
holes in the bed... he had the bottle mounted to a piece of ply wood about
18x24" and 3/4 in thick This was NOT secured to the bed, and he had a loose
plastic tub covering the set up.... the tech inspector questioned the setup,
but passed him when the driver claimed that he had been allowed to use the
same set up at "Firebird raceway"....
If I had been racing I would have protested this setup. This was one of the
most extremely unsafe things I have ever seen at a sanctioned race track!!!
If some of you do not know the power of these bottles look at this link...
this can easily hapen if you are not careful with presurized containers

sorry for ranting
