Not to downgrade the Akimoto Sports filter, but I have on sitting in my
garage
that we did a smoke test on. The inverted "Velocity" tip did nothing but
restrict the flow. The K&N 6"x9" cone and the Akimoto both pulled air in
from
the base (largest area) first. K&N has also stated (on numberous occasions)
that the inverted cone filters don't flow as well as the regular cones.

If you were a manuf, wouldn't you say that also?? Even if they pull the same amount of air, there are other distinct advantages. Stainless steel mesh and all aluminum instead of degradable rubber.

I've had it for a little over two years and used it on my truck as well
on the
old "Home-Brew" system. After replacing the Akimoto with the 6x9 cone, the
truck performed much better on the top end. Yes, I even tried this with the
current configuration (Powerdyne @ 9# Boost) and again, the K&N 6x9 cone
performed better.

For your set up, this might be true. With a SC, you might need to tap into the largest area of the cone for air movement. Most trucks will never see that need though. There are advantages and disadvantages to each product. With a slightly smaller total surface area than the 6x9 cone, this is a disadvantage. But the use of all metal products is an advantage in longevity. Individual choice. Add to that the fact that I will soon be working for Akimoto and will be in charge of the product development also, this advantage to K&N may evaporate soon. I will keep you appraised of the developments.

I am using the Akimoto on the DACUDA. I have been pleased so far. I took off the K&N Gen II system (MPP Cold Air Induction) because the plastic hat broke twice. That unit is great for flow, but not designed for a real torque-y motor. Too much movement with one end moving and the other end stationary on the fender. Something has to give. Glad when it cracked nothing went down the TB!!

Anyway - thanks for the opinion Bernd. Always interesting!! I will keep the DML and other Dodge related groups involved in the development stages in teh future once I am on board!!

Thanks.
