Subject: DML: limited slip unit
>>>>Wassup everyone...I went to the Dodge dealership here in Fayetteville,
AR
today to get a quote on a Sure-Grip differential lock for my '00 Dakota. It
has an open differential (8.25...10 bolt) and I hate that with a passion. I
first noticed the unit on Mopar's website and I would like to get the unit,
but they quoted me a price of $460 before installation at the
dealership....that's crazy; especially for a piece that's listed for $245 on
the options list. I would have opted for the limited slip unit, but my
father handled the purchase of the truck and he didn't specify the option so
now I'm stuck with one wheel turning when I am warming up the tires...or
should I say tire. Does anyone know where I can get the unit cheaper?
Also, does the 2001 Mopar Performance Parts catalog list the price of it's
parts and have them ready to order direct? I'm thinking about investing in
the catalog, but if it's like the website (no price, no way to order) I am
not interested. If the dealership is just in their pricing, then I'll
probably go with the Powertrax No-Slip unit. Does anyone have any
experience with the No-Slip locker? I would like to know if it's really
worth the $405 price tag. Is it streetable and functional, as claimed. I
would prefer a Mopar unit, but if I can get the Powertrax unit cheaper, I'll
go with it. Four Wheeler and Sport Truck magazine have both done reports on
the No-Slip and they were pleased with the results. If anyone can help,
send me a line.
Robert.
P.S. Will C., I'm still debating the dual exhaust thing, cat-back (mandrel
bent...probably Gibson) or Flowmaster (custom fabricated duals) at the local
muffler shop. Will the mandrel bent system really increase horsepower and
torque?
