Subject: DML: 4.7L Temperature Questions

I bought my 2k 4.7L cc auto in july of last year. I recently added a
flowmaster 40 series muffler to it with turndowns....(screw tips, i'm in it
for the sound ;)) My brother owns a 99 reg cab R/T with the same muffler.
so, the other day i was riding with him on a long trip and noticed that the
temperature gauge was significantly lower than mine gets on long trips. but
i figured that a 5.9 liter engine would produce way more heat than a 4.7
liter. the other day when i got pulled over for going 71/55 i casually
glanced at my temp gauge and it was almost at 220..i think...(almost
straight up...90 degree angle) the flowmaster documentation said that the
muffler would help decrease the amount of heat that builds up under the
engine, but from what i've experienced, it's only increased....maybe my temp

gauge is just off?
any thoughts? i need to cool this mug down...

also, i just made the switch from 93 octane to 87 octane...
