Well, I've got 11,000 on my 2001 thus far with no trouble, but you won't find
any with really high mileage for a while, I'd imagine. I don't expect to have
any problems, design-wise. I figure that as long as it's a domestic 5-spd 2wd
truck I can fix about anything down the road.

Subject: DML: 4.7L Reliability/Long Term

Has anyone put some serious miles on their 4.7L V8 equipped Dakota,?
I was just reading about some potential long term problems with the 4.7L V8
and want to make sure, if I would get a Dak with the 4.7L V8, that it would
be just as reliable long term wise as my V6 Dak has been. I know this engine
has been used longer in the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but still want to know
about the engine's true reliability, whether in a Dak or a GC.
This article is at: http://www.ecpe.vt.edu/~dfritz/ram_frame.html
and it towards the end of the article where its heading reads: "More From
Henry LaViers" and continues down the rest of the page. This is why I am
still looking for a 97-99 4WD 5.2L Dakota; the good ole 318 has many years
behind it, and no one can say anything but positive comments about it.
Any thoughts on this 4.7L article??
