I don't think I've ever heard of anyone doing that. You're only suppose to

I have used Fram oil filters, including the sure grip ones, on my truck
since I bought it with 13,500 miles on it. It just turned over 136,000 miles
last week. I havent had any problems with the Fram oil filters. Did you put
it on too tight, possibly stripping the threads??
