Tom, MAKE SURE you dimple both the M1 and the ends of the block! I've had
mine off countless times trying to fix that *&#$&#'ing end gasket leak, the
only way I've been able to stop it was dimpling both surfaces with a sharp
punch, about 1/8" apart. RTV will work fine, like Bernd I use the Copper
RTV... however I see 2 drawbacks to RTV. 1- it's always a pain in the royal
butt to get out of the tube, and the tube almost always splits open on me,
making one awefull mess! 2- it takes forever to setup and dry.

This is why I'm so adament about "The Right Stuff", it costs about twice as
much as RTV but in my experience it is well worth it. It comes out like a
can of easy cheese... It will also set up and get tacky in about 5 minutes,
which is pretty darn quick, but not so quick that you can't get things put
together... just make sure everything is laid out and ready to go.

Once you have the surfaces dimpled, lay your intake to head gaskets and make
sure they lock in with the tabs from the head gaskets, (note Manifold Side
on them), then lay down a small bead of TRS/RTV front and rear. Then lay
down the end gaskets making sure they're square and flat both to the block
and to the intake gaskets. Run a bead of TRS/RTV on top of the end gaskets,
make sure you have the corners also! Then promptly set the intake in place.
Make darn sure you set it down straight! It will help if you cut the heads
off of a few old intake bolts and use them as dowels...

Drop in the manifold bolts and torque to spec, that's it! TRS is supposed
to set up fully within an hour or so, but after messing with that leak 5 or
6 times, I let it sit overnight and then some before I drove it. It's been
several months now with no leaks (other than the valve covers :) )

The only drawback I've found with TRS is when/if you remove the parts they
will be stuck very well, I would wager that I could go remove all my intake
bolts without any problems, and it'll be difficult to dig the stuff out of
those dimples you put in the metal... but it's better than pulling that
*$#&# manifold 6 times to fix a leak!
