Business Ethics

You know, I hate to get in the middle of all this but I'm getting a little
perturbed at all the negative publicity the DML is getting because of
business ethics problems. This isn't specifically about Bruce or Tony, but
it is about business ethics.

Before I go on, I want to say that I have met Tony and have seen his
product. I don't think there's a nicer guy. I'm sure he'd give you the
shirt off his back if you asked. As for Bruce, I've done business with
Bruce, have been to his shop, and have purchased his product. He took the
time to install it for me. He is beyond reproach. As for Bernd running the
group buy, you all know Bernd. This list would be nothing without him.

That being said let's get down to the heart of this matter. If you're going
to run a business, your first rule should be customer service. Without this
your business is not long for this world. Part of this service is customer
satisfaction. Everyone works hard for their money and aftermarket items,
performance or otherwise, aren't cheap. When I or anyone else pays money up
front for a product we expect to receive a product worthy of the money we
paid for it and we expect to receive it in a reasonable time frame. If the
product isn't worth the money, we expect a refund. If you, the business
owner cannot ship it in a reasonable time frame we expect to be notified and
given the option of canceling our order. By the way, if you order with a
credit card and you don't receive your order within 30 days you have the
option of canceling that order through your credit card company. They will
deal with the business. I think this is all that everyone's expecting,
nothing more, nothing less. I would guess most people on this list that
have ordered products are willing to wait, so long as they're notified.

So, Tony, Bruce, and whoever else that's doing business and listening. If
you promise something, either deliver or let someone know why you can't
deliver. That's certainly not too much to ask.
