You can use it right away. For those of you that are still concerned about
synthetics here's an article written by an Amsoil dealer but he's not
pushing Amsoil. He's a racer and he's talking about lubricating qualities
of oil. As long as you change your filter on a normal basis synthetic oil
will last a long time.

Subject: DML: Need advice on 4.7 and oil

I just picked up a new Dakota with the 4.7L V8, auto, and limited slip
diff. I'm thinking of running synthetic oil in the engine starting at
6000Km (second oil change). A friend of mine recommended that I not go
with synthetic until at least 10000Km, but more like 20000Km. Can
anyone tell me when the best time to switch to synth is? What are the
pros and cons and is the extra cost actually worth it? Also, what about
my tranny and diffs, what type of lube should I use in those and how
often should I change it.

Thanks for the help, this is a great list.

Mike
