Good article. The only thing that he's wrong on is the use of Synthetic oil
in automotive applications. Germany was also using the Synthetic oil (that
was created there as well) during WWII. How do I know? My father was
working with the German military on the Radar and Sonar development at that
time...showed me data on the synthetic oils that they were using in their
vehicles because the oil supply lines were cut-off. He even has the old
data sheets from WWII on the stuff.
Next time i'm in CA, i'll see if I can scan them. (Pretty fragile documents
though.) Also has an old blueprint for a magnetic propulsion
engine...Swiss/German design. Used in...guess what...a "UFO" disc-type
vehicle. He's got some very interesting stuff in his old Lockheed folders
as well.
Amsoil wasn't the first, they'd like to believe this, but they weren't.
Otherwise...it is a very good article to read.

You can use it right away. For those of you that are still concerned about
synthetics here's an article written by an Amsoil dealer but he's not
pushing Amsoil. He's a racer and he's talking about lubricating qualities
of oil. As long as you change your filter on a normal basis synthetic oil
will last a long time.

Subject: DML: Need advice on 4.7 and oil
I just picked up a new Dakota with the 4.7L V8, auto, and limited slip
diff. I'm thinking of running synthetic oil in the engine starting at
6000Km (second oil change). A friend of mine recommended that I not go
with synthetic until at least 10000Km, but more like 20000Km. Can
anyone tell me when the best time to switch to synth is? What are the
pros and cons and is the extra cost actually worth it? Also, what about
my tranny and diffs, what type of lube should I use in those and how
often should I change it.
Thanks for the help, this is a great list.
Mike
