Long time since I've posted... hope this finds all of you well. Anyway, on
to the story...
I have a 2000 DQC 4x4. I *love* this truck - so far, it's been really good
to me. At around
8500 miles or so, however, I started getting the infamous "pop clunk" in the
front end when making
slow left turns (less than 15 MPH). I thought maybe it had a ball joint
problem (it was going bad
maybe, or needed to be lubed, or didn't get properly lubed at the factory,
etc.). So, I figure, no
big deal, it's warranty work and I have a spare vehicle, let's get this done
before things get way
out of hand.
I live in Austin TX, and I bought the truck at Maggie's H.O.T. (Heart Of
Texas) Dodge, so I
took it there. I figure they may have to keep it overnight to figure this
one out, so I write my
truck off as being unavailable for the weekend (*sniff*). They call me in
the afternoon though,
and tell me that the _bushings_ had gone bad on the front end. I pick up my
truck, run it through
some standard "will it clunk like it did before?" tests, and it's all good.
I don't know what kind of crud they make bushings out of at DC, but 8500
miles? Sheesh!
On my truck especially, which has been doing pretty much Yuppie Poser 4x4
duty since I
bought it (dammit Bernd, you said you'd find a new Mud Hole(tm) in the area!
