Yep. it's the carbon canister. Excess fuel vapors in the fuel system go
into the little canister and when the vacuum activates it, it gets burnt in
the C.C.s along with the rest of the "normal" gas. It's mainly an emission
product, but it works without harming performance, it can't be THAT bad :)

Nah, can't be the fuel filter, unless they hold a quart of gas. I think Ron
W. is right, it's the gas tank carbon canister. It's a 97, 318.
