*** NASCAR fines three teams for rules violations

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - NASCAR levied fines against five teams
Thursday for rules violations uncovered last weekend at Las Vegas
Motor Speedway. The most serious penalty was levied on Todd
Berrier, crew chief for Kevin Harvick's Busch Grand National car.
Berrier was fined $5,000 and suspended for two races for an
oversized fuel cell container found on Harvick's No. 2 Chevrolet.
Chris Carrier, crew chief for the No. 30 Chevrolet driven by Joe
Nemechek, was fined for $2,000 because the A-frame of the car did
not meet the minimum thickness requirements. Greg Connor, crew
chief for the No. 50 Chevrolet driven by Rick Mast, was fined
$1,000 for the same violation. Royce McGee, crew chief for the
No. 31 Chevrolet driven by Mike Skinner, was fined $5,000 for
using a "performance additive" in the air filter. Peter Sospenzo,
crew chief for Jeremy Mayfield's No. 12 Ford, was fined $250 for
unapproved, adjustable braces.
