Just read an article in the newspaper recently that audits
recently completed in all aspects by the German teams
show that DC was paying different prices to different suppliers
for the same part. It also showed that DC was paying same
suppliers different prices even though it was the same part but
was being used in different models. They project that they
can save hundreds of millions in the first year by fixing this
problem. Chrysler apparently has had a reputation in the
industry for such things for years going way back.

Too bad most of the story of what went on is so one-sided.
