Just got home from a band job, and after a nice Turnpike run there & back
with my new exhaust, all I can say is WOW! I had a Flowmaster SI/DO with 2
1/2" pipes, and it was loud, but really didn't do anything for performance. I
had that system done while I still had 15" tires, and the pipes were bent
around the 15" spare, so when I switched to 17" R/T wheels & tires, the spare
wouldn't hang up, and I was carrying it in the bed.
So I went to Midas in Edison, NJ, the head mech is a racer, said I'd be
better off with dual 2 1/4"s, I'd probably pick up some low end grunt. I say
OK, do it up so my 17" spare can hang underneath. Well, $434 later, I have my
spare tucked up, a Ravin Z33 SI/DO 2 1/4", custom-bent duals, and finishing
it off, Megs 5" angle-cut oval tips. It's quieter than the FM40 I had, but it
still has a nice throaty rumble, especially when punching it! According to
Ravin's charts, the Z33 flows just below open pipes, and 2 steps above the
FM40. It also produces more torque than the FM40, once again just below open
pipes. And it DEFINETLY has given me more low end torque, the Dak pulls off
the line effortlessly now, with much less stomping to get it moving. I took
pics of before, during, and after, will try to redo my page soon & post 'em.
I'd recommend this Midas shop to anyone in NJ looking for good custom work,
these guys know their sh*t!
