Shawn,

I am using a Realistic CB (from Radio Shack) with a 2 feet Firestik antenna
mounted on my driver side fender with the fender mount. Purchased antenna
and fender mount from www.valcoelectronics.com. The antenna has a tunable
tip.

When tuning with a SWR meter the instructions are to first calibrate the
meter. SWR in calibrate mode, press to talk and adjust meter reading.
Next, switch to SWR mode, press to talk and take reading. After each
adjustment to the antenna, do I recalibrate the meter before taking another
SWR reading or do I take all SWR readings from the initial calibration?

------------------------------

When I am calibrating my CB I switch the CB to channel 21, calibrate the CB
and then take my reading. I then adjust the antenna and check again. The
calibration should be the same but it would not hurt to check it again once
in awhile. After I get 21 set I then check channel 1 and 40 to make sure
they are ok. If you know that you are going to be using the lower or upper
channels more then the others, you can calibrate to the channel you use the
most but I would do channel 21 since that gives you good use all around.
What antenna and radio do you have. I am using a Larson drilled through the
roof and a realistic radio in my car and a Larson in the truck but only a
walkie until I get around to maybe purchasing a new radio for the Dak and
installing it. Good luck with the CB, I have been using mine for 15 years
and have enjoyed it alot, am going for my amature radio license on Saturday.
