Same thing happened to me a while back. I forgot to disconnect the neg
terminal before changing plugs and arced my ratchet on the alternator.
Everything seemed okay at the moment, but as soon as I'd drive ten miles
or so electrical systems would go catywaumpus, then a mile later the
truck would go dead. It was definitely a battery problem, if I let the
truck sit the battery would re-charge itself enough to get a few miles
then again go dead. I first thought I'd fried the alternator which was
in turn not charging the battery. I made a service appointment the next
day so it could charge overnight and it still just barely rolled in the
garage. Turned out I blew a main bus fuse, located in the box under the
hood on the driver's side. They put in a new fuse under warranty and I
had my truck back later that day, the only good service experience I've
actually had. Right now I'm having an intermittent starting problem
relating to one of the relays in that box, they just can't seem to
figure out which one, goes back for the third time on Friday. Check
those fuses and relays, hopefully that's your problem.
