On the average, a modified TB will show some gains in MPG...I personally
have never heard of 2mpg, but 1-1.5 is close. It could be both though (TB
and Shell). It would also depend on what type of camper
shell...lightweight, aerodynamic shell would help...standard squared off may
not.

actually increased drag (not to mention the added weight) and was therefore
detrimental to MPG... OTH, a tonneau decreased drag and should therefore
have a
positive effect on MPG. Can't remember the web site or who posted it but it
was
pretty interesting.

If this stuff was true then your new TB is the source of improved MPG.

I'm more inclined to think the increase is from the shell. I saw some
mileage improvement with the tonneau I added. Still can't say for sure
if the TB added any mileage on my V8.
