Mike, I have a stainless pipe running from my converter into my 2-chamber
3"in, dual 2.5" out, with turndowns about 8 inches long turned pretty much
directly toward the ground. They point to the back of the truck a little,
but not much. I had 2.5" stainless duals run into 22"x4" 45* angle -cut
stainless tips, but they were pretty heavy and I kept having trouble with my
hangers. When I redid it and "dumped" it, I used a hanger off of another
factory dakota exhaust system, and I am using it on my pipe into the factory
rubber mount for my hanger. It works great, and looks like it could have
been original equipment! It did get louder, but I think mainly because I
have my bed carpeted and a bedcover-it acts like a huge echo chamber! It
will drone you out and rattle the dash and any change that may be in the
truck between 1800-2000 rpms, but I like it. Oh yeah, if I'm coming to a
stop in town, I can knock it up in 3rd gear, let the clutch out, and the
motor comes up to 2400-2500 rpms it makes a pretty loud pop-pop-pop noise.
Grabs attention from other drivers and bystanders! I personally like tips
and duals on a truck, but I kept dragging my tips and my hanger problems
were frustrating, and I'm very satisfied with what I have now. Good luck

Hey folks,

I was wondering if anyone had downturned pipes on their truck, right after
the muffler, so that the exhaust exits under the vehicle, rather than out
the rear side? What effects were there with noise, power, emissions, etc?

By the way, I have a 93 V6 CC with a Dynomax 3" catback system.

Thanks,
Mike Styer
