Bill,

Replacing your exhaust system with an EPA approved cat back system should
not completely void your warranty. I have a Gibson cat-back system on my
Dak. Installing a TB will probably just void certain warranty claims
regarding your engine. Particularly if the repair is related to the TB. I
have a QuickD TB on my 98. Early this year I took my Dak in to the dealer
to have them look at a stalling problem. They attributed the problem to the
TB and billed me for the labor. Their repair was to tighten down the TB and
reset the computer. All this for $117 in diagnostic labor. This was the
second time that I took my Dak in for the same problem. The first time they
replaced the IAS unit and covered it under warranty. I assume they did not
notice the QuickD TB the first time and only noticed it the second time when
they had to tighten the button head bolts. The stock bolts were hex head
bolts.

Subject: DML: Warranty

Hey all,
I have a 2001 Dakota Quad-Cab with the 4.7L engine.
I'd like to change the exhaust system to get better sound from it, but I
don't want to take a chance of loosing my warranty.

Is this an issue? What about changing the TB or a new chip?

Bill
