...and this all depends on the type of relationship you have with your
mechanic. I can't speak highly enough of the Fullerton Dodge repair shop.
A lot of modified vehicles go through them because they understand folks
that like to get the most out of their vehicles. The three mechanics that
work on my Dak know it well. Some of them have spent their own time to help
me tweak it so warranty issues are NEVER a problem. I listen to all of the
consumer/dealer problems on the DML and other forums and all I gotta say is
it sure is nice to be able to go to my mechanic and say...blah blah blah and
why does this happen, etc. They stick the scanner on it and go, well let's
see what's happening here. A lot of the time they don't even charge me
unless it's something critical that I have to have done right away.

The other thing is, I didn't even buy my Dak through them because there was
a better deal else where. They're just bunch of nice people! Part of it
is the DTOA but I've known these people since I bought my 93 Caravan from
them.

Bill,

Replacing your exhaust system with an EPA approved cat back system should
not completely void your warranty. I have a Gibson cat-back system on my
Dak. Installing a TB will probably just void certain warranty claims
regarding your engine. Particularly if the repair is related to the TB. I
have a QuickD TB on my 98. Early this year I took my Dak in to the dealer
to have them look at a stalling problem. They attributed the problem to the
TB and billed me for the labor. Their repair was to tighten down the TB and
reset the computer. All this for $117 in diagnostic labor. This was the
second time that I took my Dak in for the same problem. The first time they
replaced the IAS unit and covered it under warranty. I assume they did not
notice the QuickD TB the first time and only noticed it the second time when
they had to tighten the button head bolts. The stock bolts were hex head
bolts.

Hey all,
I have a 2001 Dakota Quad-Cab with the 4.7L engine.
I'd like to change the exhaust system to get better sound from it, but I
don't want to take a chance of loosing my warranty.

Is this an issue? What about changing the TB or a new chip?

Bill
