Re: Fluid Leak?

Hey everyone,

Well, I cleaned the fluid off and it is indeed oil. It probably would have
been better if I did that yesterday because I ended up going from here
(between Boston, MA and Providence, RI) to Albany, NY and back today which
is about 200 miles each way. At anyrate, I assume if it is a leak it will
come back within a few hundred miles if not sooner. If it is the gasket
that you speak of, Mike and Jon, unless it's incredibly expensive i'll
replace it right away. I need this truck to last me another 4 years from
this fall.

The oil filter is on there good as well. The only oil on that is some dried
oil from my hand when I changed it last, and there is only a damp area
immediately around the filter where it screws in which is more than likely
from the last oil change.

In light of my traveling today I also had my cat. converter, which was
installed just about 1000 miles ago, rattle again. It turns out this time
it seems like its not an internal problem rather the two piece shell
splitting at one end.

Thanks for your help Mike, Jon and Ron!!
BTW, Mike the truck is an auto.. sorry for not clarifying that.
