If it's the shield rattling they don't need to replace the cat, however,
they must provide a suitable shield. I assume it's the heat shield we're
talking about here. The cat gets extremely hot. When I say extreme, I mean
"red" hot. If you don't have any type of shield to protect the area where
the cat is, guess what's going to happen?

My CAT has been making a rattling sound whenever I hit the gas. As it only
has 31K on it, I'm bringin it to the dealer for warranty replacement.
I was told that it is probably the shield and the dealer will probably
simply remove the shield.....should I...or rather..can I make them put a new
CAT in instead of simply removing the old shield??
