RE: Gears

There is no speedometer/odometer gear. Everything's electronic. There's a
wheel speed sensor between the rear wheels and the differential. Any gear
changes ahead of the rear wheels will NOT affect your speedometer/odometer.
What does affect it is changing the diameter of your rear wheels.

Subject: DML: Gears

Hi, I am new to the list and am trying to find out some information on
changing gears. I have a 2000 Dakota that I am going to install a 3.92 gear
in, instead of the 3.55 for a little more acceleration. I want to know if
anyone has done this, and what speedo gear they used to compensate for it.
My truck has the 255.65.15 tires on it, 2wd, V6...Nothing special...Let me
know if possible where to find out about this...How do I compensate for the
gear difference at my odometer, I figured that I will have to also change
the speedo drive gear, anyone know where it is located???

Thanks
