It resets the learning tables that it has filled in over the miles you have
driven. These tables are changed as your driving habits change. As you put
more miles on your Dak the data in these tables get smoothed out. Resetting
your PCM erases all this data and lets your PCM start learning all over
again. There are different reasons for resetting your PCM. When you change
your intake or TB you change the amount of air going into your combustion
chamber. You don't have to reset your PCM. It will learn the difference in
air/fuel ratios through your sensors. These sensors along with your PCM
will make the proper adjustments to keep the proper air/fuel ratio.
Resetting the PCM, however, will clear that part of memory that had all the
adjustments prior to your changes and allow it to build new data based on
your new equipment so instead of realizing things over time, the absolute
data is derived more quickly. Other devices such as an R&R of your AIC
requires a reset of the PCM because it doesn't know where the idle setting
is on the new AIC without closing it all the way and then opening it until
it has reached the proper operating idle. It won't know to do that if you
don't do the reset. As a matter of fact, the PCM presumes the proper idle
is based on the data it has and the current position of the AIC. There are
many more things that directly and indirectly affects the way the PCM runs
your powertrain. If you aren't sure whether or not to reset the PCM just
remember. You can't hurt anything by resetting it but you could by not
resetting it.

When you reset the computer, what does it do exactly? Does it check all
the sensors and re- adjust them to whatever is new? Like it you change an
intake and the throttle body how does it know to use the air?

Hi,

    I've had my B&F Billet TB for about a month or so, and I'm kinda
disappointed. Also, at highway speeds, I don't have near the same amount
of pull as I did with my QuickD TB that I had before. Also, the truck
seems more sluggish when it warms up that it did with the QuickD. Am I
doing something wrong, or did I make a MAJOR mistake getting this TB?
