You're right here, HOP! The Differential is a sealed unit,seperate from the
CV axles. The breather hose is for the Differential. The CV axles are a
sealed joint on both ends. There is a boot holding all the special grease
in. If you cut a boot or lose a clamp, the grease will sling out and the CV
joint will be shot in a hurry. The CV axles are replaced as independent
units if they go bad. There's no way the grease from the CV axles on either
end could get into the diff.-therefore no way for it to escape out of the
vent hose.HTH,

Jake, I don't think that the outer cv joint/housing is oiled through the
front axle... I might be wrong, maybe someone can chime in w/ another
opinion... I believe that they are sealed...
