I bought and installed a new idler arm on my Dak at 95,000 miles. No
problem, maybe a 30 minute job. At about 110,000 miles I bought a new pitman
arm, and also bought some new Craftsman gear/pitman arm pullers......similar
to the one you probably 'rented' from Autozone. Well after trying to get the
stock pitman arm off for 2 hours I said the heck with it and returned the
tools. I found a local garage which did it for $30 and it took them about 45
minutes. I think the guy actually loosened up the steering box. I would
suggest just calling around and asking various shops how much they charge to
install a new pitman arm if you bring in the part. Hope this helps.
