Well,
The pile that came out of my Expedition is being mostly sold off piece by
piece. The DAK presents several challenges for me as my 4 old Punch Pro
15"s just are NOT going to fit in there <Grin>. I WAS using an Alpine deck,
2 PPI PC450's (running at 1ohm), and 2 Punch 100's (Running at 2 ohms) with
MB Quart 3 way components in the front and rear, and then there was the 4
15's:). I had an EQX to flatten everything out as a pre-amp and then an
Audio Control 4.1 so my wife could kill the bass (or easily tweak the mid's
and high's). I was using a 1 Farad Cap for each of the amps driving the
15"s.

Basically I opted to "Try" the MTX self-AMPed Thunderform with 2 10"s that
present a load of 0.7ohm's to the built in Amp for some bass. I'm putting
my old 3 way MB-Quart components in the front and a new set of 6.5" Polk
DX6's Coax's in the rear for now. I'm going to start with the PPI PC450 I
have for the doors and see how the MTX does on it's own. I got the new
Kenwood Z828 head unit because it will play CD's, MP3 CD's, and CD RW's out
of the box AND has 3 4.5V RCA outputs for my Amps. The new Kenwood also
will act as a decent EQ so I don't have to deal with mounting the EQX (or an
EQL) to flatten it all out. If the MTX built in AMP doesn't cut it the new
MTX speakers are rated to like 500watt's, I'll test that theory with an old
Orion Red amp (stable to 0.25 ohms!), If I bridge that 50W Orion Red then
it's goes to 100Watts at 4ohms, then if I give it a 0.7ohm load it should be
VERY stable and pumping out over 400watts to those MTX 6000's.

If at that point I still can't get decent bass I've decided to rip the jump
seats out, and build a box for either 4 Comp 10's or 3 12's, give them the
juice they deserve and piss my wife off. I won't ever have humans in the
backseat anyway, the ONLY reason I bought an x-cab was to toss my laptop bag
and stuff like that (and of course have somewhere for stereo gear).

Thought I might mention there is a DAK here at my local HiFi buys and the
guy is dropping $50K on its entertainment system, I must admit it is pretty
bad ass, but that's a lot of dough!

I've
already got a list of sh*t to do after I'm done with the stereo I'm putting

Who needs a stereo when you have a big block under the hood with full length
headers and 40 series 3" Flowmasters! :o)~ Seriously though, what are ya
putting in the Dak? I am happy with my little stereo. Pioneer head unit,
US-Amps x-over, 4 Kicker XPL 12's, 2 pair of Kicker Resolution 6.5's and a
pair of Kicker ND-25 tweets. All that pushed by a pair of US-Amps
Xterminator 100X's, one for the tweets and one for the mids, and the subs
pushed by a US Amps 100HC bridged one ohm mono. All in all it does very
well, it just isn't as loud as my Dakado's exhaust when I am going down the
1/4 mile though. ;o)
