Same thing just happened to me a couple weeks ago. I did the spark plug
thing and got no spark.. Replace the distributor and rotor. Still not
sparking. Then magically it fired up!!! WTF?? next day same thing wouldn't
start.. Took it into the shop. Computer had gone out $550 late new
computer and Distributor plate. 2 days later same problem happens won't
start. Towed Back to shop. They find that the coil is bad (drawing way too
much current) and loose wires on starter. Tighten up and bamm not a
problem since.
Also make sure that before you replace your fuel pump, if it is bad, that
the connector is making a good connection.. I've replace 2 fuel pumps that
weren't bad just loose connector. Just crimped the connectors and all was
good.

Subject: Re: (2) DML: WTF!?! My truck won't start!!!!! UPDATE
Well, after borrowing a vehicle from a buddy (its good to have
friends who owe you), I ran home to get my stock coil (can't
bypass the Accel 300+ without it because the Accel coil uses a
different connector). An hour later I was back at the truck;
driving in Vegas on Friday evening SUCKS!!! Before I popped the
hood, I decided to crank on it one more time . . . AND, you
guessed it, it fired right up like nothing was ever wrong. I
repeat, WTF!?! This sounds like a symptom of a electrical
short/bad ground right? Or can I still not rule out the fuel
pump? Jeez, I hate intermittent problems--seems like that's the
only kind I get with this truck, too. Oh well--so it goes
sometimes. If anyone can offer their expertise to help me
figure this one out, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
JY
