Hopefully that'll help ya out. Basically, it's a Dee Zee
single lid toolbox made for compact trucks.
It's made by Dee Zee for Tractor Supply Co [has Tractor Supply
stickers on it in three places]. It's actually meant for compact
trucks [S10s, Rangers, etc] but fits the Dak okay. If you have
a Tractor Supply outlet near you [I *think* they're a national
company] you can try to find one there.
It's a pretty decent box. It's fairly thick gauge aluminum [maybe
an 1/8" thick] and the welding is pretty good. Self-adjusting
latches and good locking mechanism, plus the the $189.95 price tag
sold me on it. It also has a fairly low profile, and doesn't affect
rear visibiliy AT ALL - I can still see the top of the tailgate in
my rearview mirror. And, it can't weigh more than 35-40 pounds. I
can pick it up by myself. :)
If you're looking for a REALLY good toolbox, I can get you the info
from the one my dad has - it's a Rawson Koenig and it's *very* well
made. And it's made specifically for the Dak, so it fits perfectly
and comes with beefy mounts. I wanted one myself but the $400+ price
tag was too rich for my blood [and my wallet].
One warning, if you do find one and get it, you'll probably have to
make some custom mounts - the 1/4" j-bolts that come with it are
just *way* too puny, at least for my tastes. If you want I can whip
up a diagram of the custom mounts my friend and I came up with.
