Oops - caught a mistake in that last post. It should say "still runs a 10.0 eighth mile" - wrong truck 8)
Update on the oilpan / windage tray / main studs clearance problem. I found an incredible deal at mancini racing. They have an oil pan package for 360 trucks that includes new oil pan, plug, pickup, chrome tube and dipstick. It was on sale this month at a
clearance price of only $75. I thought it was worth a shot so I ordered that along w/a set of the stock windage tray mounting bolts which are tapped in the end for screws that attach the factory small-block windage tray. They arrived today and it looked to be an
exact duplicate of the stock pan w/the extra clearance exactly where I needed it to be. I trial fitted it today and low and behold a perfect fit. Still didn't even have to unbolt the block from the motor mounts. Just slid right in. Better than that - both the
factory windage tray as well as the Milodon tray w/ARP studs fit perfectly. They even included an extra pan plug.
Time to go to the casino I guess 8) This weekend will be a long one tho cause it looks like I've got a lot of work to do. Have to lap the valves into their seats, assemble the heads (springs, valves, retainers, locks), centerline the new R/T camshaft, heads,
intake, etc. and then its on!
Unfortunately I'll miss the big event at the Motorsports Park - the Hot Rod Power Fest will be there w/the 200+ mph street machines (thats right I said street 8). Tony Christiansen will be there if that tells you anything.
Latr,
Shane
