Question about Mopar headers

I have a set of headers that I am going to install on my 91 Dakota 318.
Before I install them I am going to send them to Jet-Hot to get them
coated. My question is: There is a small piece that goes between the
left header and the crossover pipe with a spring loaded valve in it.
Should I have this coated also ? And what would happen if I took the
valve plate and rod out ? I think it's in there to create some
back pressure for the EGR valve, but I'm installing the headers to
reduce
pressure and increase flow. Would the EGR valve still work without
the extra pressure?
It's too bad I have to do all these mods just to get about the same
horse power as a stock magnum engine.
Thanks for any information.
