I had the exact same thing happen within a month or so of getting my truck
(2001 5-Speed 4x4 4.7). It was not on all of the time, but they would come
on, and stay on for a day or so, and then go out. Back and forth. First
time I took it in, they thought it might be the light switch on the brake
pedal. (The lights were not on of course). The lights came on within 10
miles of the dealership. 2nd time, they tried to pull codes for the
computer, got nothing, and reset it. Since they found nothing, they gave it
back to me, and said they would order a new computer. But, it never did it
again. I ended up never having the computer replaced, and its been 6-7
months since then, and has never done it again.
Have then check the ABS compuer for errors, and reset it, and order a new
one. Either the diag/reset, or the new computer, should fix it.
