Unfortunately the less damage the vehicle takes the more impact is
transmitted directly to the driver. So you are actually safer in a
car that was designed to crumple and dissipate energy than in a stiff
framed truck.
Fortunately we get to take advantage of the other vehicle's crumple
zones when our stiff framed trucks push through the opposing vehicle.
It is just when we hit either an immovable object or another truck
that we suffer the most damage.
