New MPI

I came across this message on MoparChat from someone
in Quebec, Canada (is Quebec still a part of Canada?).

I thought some may be interested.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally got the new MPI Single Plane Manifold (P5007398),
yes the direct replacement one, so I thought. After reading
the instructions I find out you need an installation kit, and
it doesn't come with the manifold, JUST GREAT ! The part #
for the kit is P5007638. It also lists what is in the kit and most
of the stuff you can get at your local parts store ( fittings,
vacuum caps, longer bolts, etc.) but you need special spacers
for the fuel rails, A/C compressor bracket and alternator support.
The manifold looks a lot like the 4 barrel MPI, 8 inch runners
with air gap, but hoses, vacuum fittings, thermostat and sensors
are in the stock location. The IAT Sensor is relocated in front
of the manifold about 1 inch under the throttle body.
Now I'm going to try and figure out a way to install it without
the kit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Might be better off with the 1st gen MPI and Jon Steiger's kit
.... just my personal thought.

Bob
