  That could very well be. For the DML list, I have the program that
forwards the news posts to the list add a special header which will
cause it to be posted even if the person isn't a member. I don't know
that the off topic list has the same capability. The yahoo server
may see its not coming from a member and drop it. One option though,
is I think you can sign up to be a member of the off topic list but
set it so you don't receive any mail. That should allow you to post
via the newsgroup without getting the messages duplicated in your mailbox.
