RE: Superchargers on, WhooooHoooo Q&A

Yes Shawn. The FMU raises the fuel pressure (via the auxiliary pump)
which in turn richens up the fuel mixture.

I'll give you a call later on today on the S/C, Idler, etc. It is
adjustable on both ends though....

Ok, so here is the question... Do I install the FMU and Fuel pump or
not??? Also, I bought an aftermarket tensioner for this SC from an
unnamed source and there is NO way that I see you can use it to tension
the damn belt. It has 2 boltholes in it, without the slide groves the
PowerDyne adjuster has. Has anyone used this tensioner (Bernd you know
what I'm talking about) and how in the hell can something that isn't
adjustable be a belt tensioner??? Maybe I'm a few bolts short of a
belly pan gasket but what's up?

Bernd, what is the URL to your pic's of your SC??? I checked both
Speedtweaks and toycrusher but couldn't find them. I'm trying to find
time to play with the PCM, I have all the equipment, just need to get
some pinouts and start playing.

So far the only real headaches is a little belt squeak at times, a
pretty loud blowing noise (almost like an air leak) at 4000ish RPM's,
running rich, and trying to figure out where to put the K&N 6x9 filter.

I've got a cheap gauge pod until the 3 pod's get going, does anyone have
a picture of the mist gray plastic vs the agate plastic??? I'm ordering
a boost gauge tonight so I can keep an eye on things. I'm also
installing the blow by valve this weekend (compliments of Bernd).

I'm thinking about sticking it on a dyno tomorrow for an hour or so to
see the true A/F reading and get some HP readings. I may stick the 9#
pulley on it if all looks good to see if that will lean it out.

I just don't know whether to stick the fuel pump and FMU on or not.

Thanks,
        Shawn

(1) You want to be rich at WOT (To a point...no real way to tell without
putting it on a wide-band O2 "sniffer" to check the A/F correctly)
(2) YES...Sh-tcan that POS filter that comes with the Powerdyne...only
flows about 400-500CFM max. (You'll need at least 750-800CFM)
(3) If you're already running that rich, it won't help out...you'll need
to get the A/F issue first before fine tuning it with the IAT Adjuster.

Why isn't it shifting properly? (Go back to your factory PCM program
for a bit and you'll see...you know what I mean on that one Shawn.)

Well, went to a friends house expecting to just hang out. We installed
my PowerDyne while hanging out!!! We skipped the FMU and Fuel pump for
now as I have 24# injectors and an A/F meter that I can keep an I on.
I'm running the stock 6 Pounder, MAN what a difference. The A/F is
STILL RICH at WOT!!! Maybe you folks can guide me here with a few minor
issues:

1) Originally I had sent my PCM to Leach for a blower flash, it's been
running rich as shit waiting on the blower. Now, WITHOUT the Extra Fuel
Pump and FMU I am STILL rich at WOT!!! Go figure. This is with the 6#
pulley, I would expect to lean out a little with the 9#er I'm going to
put on after break in. My biggest headache is that after the flash and
before the SC at WOT I would stop at 4600-4700RPMS. When I say stop,
it's not a rev limiter, rather I didn't think their was enough air to
blow the fuel. So now, SC on at WOT I BLAST past 4600RPM's to 5300ish
and then it WILL NOT SHIFT until I slightly let off the throttle,
WTF???? When I do let off slightly BAM I'm through the RPM's in a flash
and have to back off again slightly to shift again. Any Ideas??? I'm
thinking that the shift points are slightly higher and the 6#er isn't
feeding enough air to pound through them. HMMMMM. Suggestions
welcome!!!
2) Next, I haven't installed a boost gauge yet, and I'm running the
factory PowerDyne Air filter in the fender well. That puppy is WAY
undersized for this kind of air movement. I plan on moving back to my
old 6x9 K&N as soon as I find a reasonable place to put it, Any
suggestions here??? I thought about the same place as the cold air
setup, however this beast chews up a lot of real estate as it is, I'm
concerned that if I put the K&N there the belt on the SC will rub.
3) I have an IAT adjuster but it does not seem to help any. I can not
get it to lean out at WOT, I need dyno time to get everything right, but
I'm waiting on gauges, K&N filter placement, 9# pulley, and what not
first.

Why oh why will my damn truck not shift on it's own??? Not enough air
to blow through???

Next steps are the original 6x9 K&N filter is going back on, and I'm
also installing a test blow by valve for Bernd (not installed yet but it
will be, thanks buddy). I may play with the FMU and new fuel pump but
at the moment, unless the group speaks otherwise, I'm running rich at
WOT, why put even MORE fuel into it??? I've got to tighten down the
header y-pipes, AGAIN. I also HAVE to get my gauges in, I have the A/F
hooked up and running but it's rapped around my 4WD lever;-)... Here's
the mods so far just for any folks perusing looking to provide input:
