Is this verifiable? This really should go into the FAQ once we dig up
the truth (the whole truth and nothing but the truth) ;-)
I'm no expert on the history involved here, but I *have* read quite a bit
about the events that led up to the takeover, and I don't recall anything
ever being said about MB designing an engine for Chrysler. I would have
thought something that noteworthy would have been mentioned somewhere.
Also, just on a personal level, I wonder why Chrysler would have done that?
They had some of the best designers in the world right under their roof;
why farm it out, especially to a company with little to no light truck
experience?
(Please don't take this the wrong way Steve, I'm not trying to call you
a liar or anything like that, I am just genuinely interested in finding
out exactly what the deal is here...)
