Tom,
This has bothered me in the past too. The problem is the people "judging",
aren't really judges. They are just the attendees on the field. (At least
in Carlisle's case anyway.) If you really want to compete at Carlisle, you
need to register for the competition class. Unfortunately, you can have the
most detailed vehicle out there, but the guy sitting next to you with a half
dozen bolt-ons is going to get the votes. Don't forget either that at
Carlisle, you have a lot of different groups/clubs. Some of them won't vote
for anyone outside of their own group. Life isn't to pretty out there! Try
to take it with a grain of salt, and just enjoy associating with the people
you meet.
I couldn't make it this year, but I have a question for you. I emailed them
last year after the show and suggested making class divisions between the
Gen-II's and Gen-III's, and one between stock and modified Daks. They
replied back they were going to try and do this. Did they institute the new
classes? Just wondering how sincere they were in their reply.

I am a little bit upset with the turnout for the Gen1 & 2...There were
more Gen 3 trucks there than the others.it could have been better!!!
I noticed that there were some people there that didnt take the time and
effort in detailing there trucks as much as i did,I spent a lot of time to
get my truck to look like it did, now im not saying my truck was better then
others...but come on!!!
Spectators were looking and voting on trucks that were not as clean as
mine and had all kinds of junk on them that just made them look cheap.
what does it take to get a truck to be a show truck?? what do the judges
look for in there decisions for the awards??? my truck is mostly stock.
Does anyone know who won the show field for the gen1&2 class??? I know the
gentleman that came from Canada that had the 91 red sport 4X4 won a trophy
for something...is that gentleman on the list??
