Hey, I have a noise coming from the front of my truck too, except mine sounds
like explosions pushing pistons up and down which is then turning something.
I have never been able to figure out what it was, but a lot of guys on the
list seem to experience the same kind of noise coming from up front. :-)
Seriously though, WELCOME, and I have no idea if thats true or not, but I
have never heard of anything like that. When my catalytic converter went out
it sounded like it came from up front and followed that same pattern of
getting louder but never sounded like a chain. I thought it sounded like a
bolt rattling which is slightly close to a marble in a jar. If nothing up
front checks out get underneath and smack your cat a few times, see if you
hear it then.
