Bombarded...Virus alert etc

The majority of the suspicious files I have been receiving from unknown
people have a message very similar to this one:

"Hi! How are you?

I send you this file in order to have your advice

See you later. Thanks"

Obviously an attempt to 'trick' someone into opening it. Anyway, the
majority of us are not idiots :-), but I attempted to determine why NAV does
not mark these as viruses...if they are as we all suspect. I did a couple of
tests and it appears that it is not a file at all but a "link". My
assumption is that the "link" is not regarded as a virus....BUT...if one was
inclined to open the file, you would in fact be accessing a file which is
outside of your system on the net somewhere...and that's where it'll get ya
:-)
I happen to love the new NAV because it sets up a proxy server to view
incoming mail 'before' the messages are even posted, so there is no chance
you could accidentally open it before NAV had a chance to review it. I'll go
one step further and suggest that if you were naive enough to actually open
the file..thereby accessing the viral link...this is where your AV
protection will prove its worth....but hell......why would ya open it to
begin with :-)

..It still is rather strange that the list gets hit as often as it does
though.............there are obviously members out there with inadequate
virus protection which gets this whole ball rolling to begin with

Dak Content................virus spelled backwards is suriv....remove the ri
and ya get SUV...and we all know pick-ups are better than SUVs
:-)......conclusion VIRUS = SUV = BAD
