You can do that. Mostly though, these things are an annoyance. I haven't
used them since I first changed the plugs and it doesn't seem to make a bit
of difference. Also the MSD wires are too fat to fit in there. I have an
air compressor and it's still easier to blow all the crap off the engine
without those things on.

So if you want to keep these in and change the plugs why can't you just pull
the plug wires and give each plug inside the heat shield a couple of shots
of compressed air to clean the sh*t out before you pull the plugs?
Or won't this work and if not why?
