By the color of the electrode and (white) ceramic on the firing side.
(Really white is way too lean.)

I have used NGK's for many years in many import cars with great success.
Maybe V-power at one stage colder? I am using the Autolites 3923 in my
98 5.2 auto CC. Seems to run fine. How do you know when a plug is "Too
Lean"?
